Doin' the Mommy thing

Well today has been a blur. I'm trying to clean the entire house while caring for my sick little Ben. All I can say is thank goodness for Elmo! But otherwise I'm carrying him or he's following me around with his arms in the air! Poor thing is all stuffed up, I had to hold him for the last hour of his nap. I did get some cleaning done, but my brother , who is due to arrive in two hours will just have to deal with dusty shelves in our guest room! At least the toilet and tub are clean! I'm hoping to sneak out tonight after Ben goes to sleep to get groceries. Tomorrow will be extra busy, if Ben is feeling better. Usually I only look forward to Tuesdays, because of the women's bible study, but now I like Thursdays, because I've just started a kickboxing class! I love it. Its one of those classes where you are just dripping with sweat when you are done.....I love that! ( Not exactly the most feminine thing to say, but hey, you all know me!)

Mike and Jeff leave on Saturday to go to Pittcon, a trade show that's in Fl this year. They are coming back the next Friday. Unfortunatly it won't be much fun. Poor them! Just dressing up everyday, smiling and talking to about a million people and then having a business meeting over dinner with clients every night. I haven't gotten the green light to go yet but I'm working on it. Maybe next year! I think it would truly be annoying for an exhausted Mike to come back into his hotel room with a relaxed, tanned and smiling wife...wait a minute, maybe it wouldn't be TOO annoying, eh? (I have to remember that angle).

Hi, I'm new here...

My good friend Elaine AKA Lainey, got me on to this Blog thingiemagig. I think I like it! I'll let you know. Today started out cold and rainy but has turned out to be cold and sunny. I'll take it! Ben and I went to the gym this morning and I took a kickboxing class. It was ok, but I think I'll be feeling it tomorrow. I'm continally spurred on at the thought of my thoroughly winterized body (Think Hibernation!) squeezing into a bathing suit in the summer. Not a pretty thought.
On to more important things. BEN! Today Mike came home for lunch (the sweetie that he is!) so I could go get my haircut. When I left Ben said, "BYE"! In his little 22 month old voice. Such a cutie! I thought about that the whole drive to the salon....isn't it strange how quickly the "important" things of life fall away when you have children? Don't they just narrow the road we travel so much? I think it is a blessing in a person's life to be able to focus on the welfare of others, and being a wife and a mother seems to do just that! Like my Mom always said, "It's not about you anymore!"
